Thanks to everyone who made the Launch of Soulful Encounters Successful and Memorable!

There are moments in life which are captured in our memories forever.  As Rosa Parks said:  “Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others.”

Mags Birthday best

The launch of Soulful Encounters, on May 25th, along with my birthday celebration is a memory that will live in my mind forever because I know for sure, that I am contributing to the works of many great souls who have graced the surface of this earth, long before I was born.  I am equally certain, that the memories which are created in the souls who are being touched by our work, will in turn, continue to play their part in creating more soulful encounters in this lifetime, to grace the planet with more love and care, as we all thrive to live with both PASSION and PURPOSE.

I want to thank everyone for their wonderful contributions towards the launching of the Magazine – whether this came through sponsorship, purchasing a magazine, sending messages to wish us a successful launch, sharing or liking on social media, making a telephone call or turning up at the launch. I want to specially thank Wilson for uncovering the box of dreams and giving me the support which I needed to bring life to these long, buried dreams. Our contributors to the Magazine, our graphic designer Mila Gerstentien and photographers Nyamulola Kambanji and Kores Musuni were critical to the Magazine production.  Each adventure has forced us to step out of our comfort zones.  Some moments have not been easy but I would not exchange the experience for anything else.

When we started on this journey Magsthree years ago, I had no idea where it would lead, who we would meet or what the results would be.  What I knew then, was that I was being placed in a soul space which needed expansion and the voice in my head kept on saying: “Don’t die with your passion inside of you.” Talking about the soul is not something which is an everyday conversation, yet, SOUL is my everyday experience with life and with people.  I have spent many sleepless nights wondering how I could create a simple way to help others understand the journey of the soul and to also make the connection between the every day ordinary, routines and the SOUL.  I have thought long and hard about how I can help others take meaning from their day to day encounters and to be more aware of the blessings that are exchanged – whether it is a positive or negative soul encounter. I believe that as we make these connections and see that our paths are connected to a force which is so much greater than ourselves, then our fears are also released and we are able to commit and embrace our unique path with greater grace, gratitude and acceptance.  As we receive more and more testimonials about Soulful Encounters and the events which we have held, I am convince that we are on the right path.

Each of our speakers  shared soulful encounters in their lives and I am truly grateful that they allowed us to have a glimpse of how their experiences have shaped their lives today.  It was inspiring to listen to how Laura is using her gifts as a psychic to help others; how Rima got fired from Willis College in one moment and the next moment, she was the owner of the College.

MengsWe were all deeply engaged with Mengis’s story as he walked us through his life journey and how he got freed from prison and walked through a jungle with a total stranger for eight hours. His journey to Canada is a true testimonial  of the journey of the soul across many continents.

Trevor speaking

We were inspired by Trevor’s deep love for Dale and how this translates into their everyday existence and shows up in their coaching others to live great lives.  He recited his poem, CLOUD 9, which is  featured in Soulful Encounters.

Emily speaking

Emily touched all of our hears as she spoke about her relationship with Roger, how they met and the small and big things which he does every day to make her feel loved and safe in their relationship. She surprised him by giving him an AWARD for being the  BEST HUSBAND.

Very moving and touching was the personal story of  Margeret from Uganda who spoke about putting back the pieces of her life post Idi Amin.  Her desire to LIVE and not be DEAD is a true testimonial to how she LIVES her life and encourages others to do the same.  Her shared experiences of UGANDA is on our list of travelling destinations!

Thanks to  my long standing friend Angela for speaking from her heart about our soulful relationship over the years.  Our encounter from 13 years ago, as two total strangers, have become a beautiful and soulful relationship.

13256334_1608419406153099_1025084674582389575_n[1]Thanks to my friend  Lisa Anna Palmer who never ceases to amaze me for her energy and support towards my work and who best to talk about helping us all to LIVE our PASSIONS! Her donation of a book ‘365 Ways to Connect to your Soul’ was won by the son of Ranjith Mathews who has been extremely supportive of my work and publishing in Social Media.

I discovered things about each person that I never knew before and it reaffirmed to me, the power of our stories beyond our everyday job titles and responsibilities.  There is something deeper: something is at the core of our being. I went home thinking, “This was such a powerful experience to connect so many experiences and countries in one evening, through stories and soul energy.”  Our voices and experiences matter. Our stories matter.  Understanding the part which we have to play in our life journey matters and being able to share these with the world matter.  I feel really honoured and blessed to have shared that experience with everyone.

I want to say a special thank you to my colleagues, Gemma, Fouzia, Chinelo, Peggy and Aparna, who are wonderful friends as well and who came out to support and volunteer their time at the event. Thanks to Ross and my children Jelan and Dawn for also volunteering.  Their support was priceless.  Thanks to Ranjith for his work in photographing and social media that evening as well as Zoran for his vidography.

NabilaA  special thank you to Nabila Islam who volunteered countless hours of work in pulling together the technical aspects of the production.  She did great a great job, especially with the introduction to each of our speakers.

Through this blog, I want to publicly thank everyone and acknowledge their support in helping me to live my life mission… and I hope that by doing so… I am also helping each one to live their life mission as well.

The Magazine is a new product and I also want to ask for your feedback on how we could improve for future events; on how we can continue to market the Magazine so that it reaches the right audiences and how we can continue to build on what we have started.  I am learning to ASK for what I need and this is for my personal growth as I step out to embrace both my soul work and being an entrepreneur at the same time.

The photo below was taken just a couple of minutes after they stopped the show half-way to sing the first round of Happy Birthday to me and Rima made it so special with this huge bouquet of flowers and a gift.  To simply have all three of those great speakers on the stage with me, was the a wonderful gift in itself. Thanks to my friend Leonetta who travelled from New York to be there for the launch!  This was a very special treat.  with monica

My writing journey to making myself more visible, started in 2011 after my mom’s death.  My motivation for indulging as much as I did was to ensure that when I died, everyone who knew me, could say that I lived my passion to the fullest.  My top passion in life is writing and since I made that decision, many other pieces in my life has fallen in place.  Lao Tzu said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step and truly, that is a fundamental truth in life.  Since that decision, we have traveled many miles across countries and cities, written many articles, published two Magazines, held five inspirational events in Ottawa and met people whom I would not have otherwise met on this journey.

So… here’s wishing all of us ALL WONDERFUL BLESSINGS as we embrace our soul journey and LIVE OUR BEST LIVES.

Thanks to our wonderful SPONSORS and Mr. Felix Grande for featuring me on CHUO before the Launch of Soulful Encounters.

Could this be your million dollar gift every night?

foot massageDo you feel that you are always busy with very little time to care for yourself or your partner or even your children for that matter?

Last week, I had some moments when I could hear my spirit whispering  to me, “Magdalene, you have to stop and take care of yourself.  Your Spirit is feeling tired and if you continue like this, your Spirit won’t be able to help you take care of your body.  Your Spirit does not feel welcomed in a tired body.”

The message repeated itself to my inner vortex several times. I took heed.  Thankfully, I have a partner who also understands the need for self-care and enjoys self-care activities too!  We did a few self-care things on the weekend like going to the gym, swimming in the pool, going to a movie and to the Ottawa Travel and Vacation Show and the best part of it all, was a foot massage before going to bed.

Walking through Ottawa

Walking through the City of Ottawa.  Our Spirits welcome movement. We both felt amazing in the cool spring-winter air and soaked the little bit of sunshine that came our way.

Travel show

At the Ottawa Travel and Vacation Show.  Being in this space, inspired new dreams.  Our Spirits are so welcoming of our new dreams.  We need to put ourselves in inspiring environments.

I have always enjoyed getting my feet massaged and I equally like doing it for others as well.  When my kids we younger, I would massage their feet as they watched television or were lying quietly next to me.  The foot massage would somehow put them to sleep and I will always remember that peaceful look that would come over their faces as they drifted off to sleep.

Last night, the deal was that we would massage each others feet for ten minutes while listening to an inspirational video.

The results – my body relaxed.  My feet felt light and my Spirit was whispering, “Thank you, thank you, thank you… this feels so good.”

It was like giving me a million dollar gift and I believe that he too felt that he received the same!

We had a great night sleep.

It is interesting how life keeps us busy and gets us so tired that we struggle to find time to nourish our spirits or our bodies.  Yet, we could perhaps achieve more and do greater things with a nourished spirit and a well cared for body.

Did you know that a foot massage could improve blood circulation, improve sex life, reduce depression, lower cholesterol, alleviate symptoms of PMS… there are lots of benefits to a foot massage.

Try it with your partner and see what happens.

Look out for other tips to welcome your spirit!

Love,

Magdalene

I love my body because it serves my spirit…

I love my body because it serves my

This morning I listened to a video by Sonia Choquette and her words left a beautiful inspirational thought in my mind.

“I love my body because it serves my spirit.”

Isn’t that beautiful?

I love my body because it serves my spirit.

I will repeat – I love my body because it serves my spirit.

My spirit has chosen my unique body to  serve it’s purpose on this planet, in this lifetime.

It is all the reason for me to care for this beautiful body and to hold it in the highest regard.  Whatever package I am blessed with – big, tall, skinny… is the unique gift which I have been given.  This is the body which I take to work and everywhere that I go.

How can I show my spirit that I am appreciative of this unique body?

  • I need to take care of my body and do little things to show how much I love this beautiful body of mine.
  • I need to rest sufficiently.
  • I need to relax and enjoy being in my body.
  • I need to be aware of what is causing stress in my body.
  • I need to drink water and eat nourishing foods which will give me the energy I need to function well.
  • I need to surround my body with beautiful people and places so that my spirit feels welcomed and supported.
  • I need to speak my truth to my body so that my spirit can feel at peace within me.
  • I need to remind my body how awesome it is!

When I love and respect my body, my spirit feels welcomed.  My spirit can then help me to achieve the work which I am destined to do in this world.

When I resent my body and wish I had a different body, my spirit feels trapped and I cannot live my purpose completely.

How can you welcome your spirit today?

How can you take care of the beautiful body which houses your spirit?

Love,

Magdalene

Expand yourself with inspiration… therein may lie an answer to something which you have been searching for…

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.” Helen Keller
I measure the quality of my life  by the quality of moments I have with myself, my loved ones, my colleagues, total strangers or with my experience of the world around me. I know for a fact that apart from knowledge, I need inspiration to thrive – in fact, I think that we all need inspiration.   Inspiration kicks up an infusion of a sacred longing within me to expand myself and be more in tuned with what life is nudging me to do for my soul.  Inspiration is often overlooked as a critical element of what propels a person from one action to another but those who pay attention will realize that inspiration awakens the senses to new possibilities which logic does not always agree with.  I don’t go out of my way to look for inspiration but quite often, something catches my attention which resonates deeply within me and feels “true’ to my spirit.

IMAG1441_BURST002_COVER[1]

During one of our adventures at the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa, we came across this globe.  As soon as I saw it, I immediately thought, “I want to embrace this globe.  It inspires me to keep up with my dream to travel the world.”  This picture is now etched in my memory and is a visual to remind me of this longing in my soul which I need to continue to fulfill. By simply looking at this picture, I can feel new life being breathed into me as I am even more inspired now to travel to new places.

Inspiration cannot be explained but it can be felt.  It is this ‘high’ that you get, this ‘extra beat’ in your heart when you see or hear  something which moves you… this feeling that sometimes leaves you light-hearted, for in a split moment, your spirit connects effortlessly and beautifully to that ‘thing’ which you simply know from deep inside of you.

All of my life, since I was a child,  I have always felt that I am a part of a great and wonderful universe.  I never saw myself limited to the small island where I was born. Reading expanded my mind to new places, adventures and cultures.  I was always up for the next trip, looked forward to talking to anyone at all and my curious mind wondered endlessly about how things and people evolved.  The world and life in general remains a beautiful mystery to me and there are many places and wonders which I am longing to see and experience.

What pictures do you have which inspires you to expand yourself?  What memories do you have of things you longed to do but have not been able to accomplish?  Where do you find your inspiration to move towards your inner calling?

Tune in to those little things which makes your soul sing and makes you feel alive. Step up and pay attention to what inspires you… within this inspiration may be an answer you have been searching for.

Love,

Magdalene

Have The Courage To Ask For What You Desire – Every Small Request Can Be Manifested

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Have you ever thought of something and it manifests right away – even when it was a fleeting wish and there was no real possibility for it to happen? I love those magic moments of divine synchronicity.

“I wish a taxi would come along” I thought wishfully. It was bitterly cold and I had underestimated the walking distance to get to my destination. At that very moment a taxi turned around the corner and stopped right at my feet. Someone got out of the taxi and I jumped in. A feeling of deep gratitude settled over me. I thanked God and the universe over and over and over for always taking such amazing care of me. It sounds too good to be true – but this type of situation is a common reality for me which is hard to explain.

It affirms the infinite possibilities that exist and the mystical realm of life that is unexplainable and in some cases completely illogical. My first real experience of manifesting something big in my life happened when I was thirteen. At that age, I started to test God’s power since “God knew all things and could do all things!” So, I gave God two challenges. One was to get a camera for me for my 13th birthday and the other was to travel to England before I was 18. Both looked impossible because we came from a poor family and I could not see any logical way that I would have those two things. I barely had books to go to school or shoes to walk with, so to think of a camera was like living in dreamland. And as for England – well, I did not have a faint idea of how that would be done.

Both of my requests were heard.

On the evening of my 13th birthday, as I walked along to road to buy bread from the local bakery – a usual routine, I met a doctor who volunteered in the local hospital. We had met each other a few times before. She stopped on her bicycle and we chatted. I told her that it was my birthday and right away she said “Why don’t you come up to the hospital? I have a gift for you!” Low and behold, she gave me a camera! I stood there shocked! (I can still remember the feeling!). God really heard me! No one else knew of my secret wish – it was only between God and I! For an entire year, I took photos in abundance. I loved my camera and best of all, after Dr. Michele completed her volunteering and went back to the USA, she developed all my films and posted the photos to me.

This event in my life was a MAJOR affirmation that I could ask for anything I wanted. God and the universe would hear me. Before my 18th birthday I continued to experience big and small miracles. The next challenge was met in another unexplainable way. At 17, I was attending Teacher’s Training College in St.Lucia. One day as I walked in the corridor, my English teacher, Mr. Allan Weeks, stopped me and asked, “How would you like to go to England?”
“What?” I asked, completely baffled. “Why would I go to England?” I asked.
“I am producing a play and you are the perfect match for the part. The play will be produced in England.”
Six months later, I was in England performing at the Commonwealth Institute with a great group of actors/actresses from St.Lucia. It was six months before my 18th birthday!

I have experienced so many, many manifestations of my thoughts and I like to call them “miracles”. They are all unexplainable and I am convinced that there is a formula unique to each of us that make things happen faster or slower. I believe that the formula is a combination of the mind and soul merging together. I have experienced manifestations / miracles at the speed of light – immediately from thought to manifestation. I have also experienced manifestations over a longer period and when I look back I can only thank the universe that what I asked for before did not happen earlier. When we trust in the great wisdom of the universe, we know that all things will happen as it should.

One thing I know without any uncertainty is that we need to ASK for what we want and don’t worry about when it will happen. Although we have to work towards what we want, I believe that if we are clear, then the universe arranges things in front of us to help our desires manifest. When we are not clear, it is hard to us to grab the opportunities, no matter how obvious they may be. Sometimes we ask for something and feel frustrated when it does not happen. It is not our job to worry about timing. The important thing is to ask and let it go. In time, all things work out for the best. The more we have that trust, more we invite miracles to happen in our lives.

TuneIn today to those things you secretly desire. Have the courage to ask for what you want, need or desire. Write them in a journal and keep checking with yourself now and then. As small miracles start manifesting in your life you will automatically StepUp to attract more and more of what you need to live an amazing life. Above all, keep on expressing gratitude each day, throughout the day, for all what you are blessed with. Abundance begins with a seed of gratitude.

Love,
Magdalene

How my dreams and intuition guided me to expect the death of loved ones…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“I had a bad dream last night” my dad told our neighbour the morning he was admitted to the hospital for a simple surgery. “In the dream, I was trying to push a drum of water over but the drum wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I tried. This is not a good dream.”

After the surgery, he got into a coma and died two days later. In retrospect, I believe that his dream was a sign alerting him to the fact that he would be fighting for his life and would lose the battle. It represented the struggle he faced while he was in a coma, trying to say something but could not get the words out. Based on several other small changes he made before leaving the house, such as leaving a new candle on the candle stand, arranging all his clothes neatly in the closet etc., I have a feeling that he intuitively knew that he was not going to return home. But how can one boldly say such a thing?

Do we know when we are going to die?

Prior to his death, I had a series of dreams which alerted me to expect his death and I tuned in to them quite quickly. For several weeks I dreamt of lots of food, cake and celebration, which are symbols I have come to associated with death. I dreamt of him looking younger and driving a car in several dreams (very similar to dreams I had of my mom driving a car weeks before she died). However, there were two compelling dreams that remained vivid in my mind and which has affirmed for me that there is a world beyond this physical space we occupy. About five weeks before his death, I dreamt that his deceased brother-in-law, Gaston, knocked on the door of my dad’s house and said to me “Go and call your father for me. I am here to get him… and when you come with him, bring a bottle of rum for us to celebrate.” In the dream, I got my dad and brought him to Uncle Gaston, with a bottle of rum.

When I woke up, I pondered over this dream. I had heard from my mom (who was a dreamer and had prophetic dreams), that when the dead appears in your dreams to get the living, it is a sign that they will die. It was this dream that pushed me to visit him a week later, when I found out that he was sick. I shared this dream with him and he cocked his head to a side, in deep thought. We never spoke about the dream again but he was very pensive throughout my visit.

Are the deceased alive somewhere and are still connected with us? Why would they appear to some of us and not everyone?

During my two weeks with him, I felt the need to be of service. For each small task I did for him, I did it with all the love and gratitude my heart could feel. My intuition told me that these two weeks would be all the time I would have left with him and I heeded to this message. After my two-week visit, we held each other and both sobbed. My intuition told me that it would be the last time I would see him alive and I felt that we both understood this. We said goodbye.

As soon as I returned to Canada, I dreamt that a colleague pulled out one of my molars which disintegrated in the palm of my hands. I woke up and reflected on what I had heard from my mom – that when you dream of a molar being pulled out, it means that one of your parents will die. Prior to her death, I dreamt that I pulled out one of my molars as well. Again, I pondered over the dream and shared it with a few friends who all tried to comfort me by telling me not to take the dream seriously. But there was a knot in my stomach and the gut feeling that he would die. Yet, even knowing this information at an intuitive level is difficult to explain to others because dreams are open to such different interpretations and who are we to predict the future anyway?

My dad passed away a week later. One of my sisters mentioned that she too had a dream where our deceased Uncle Tony came to look for my dad but my dad was afraid to go with him. In the dream, she said that he was in a cardboard box at the bottom on a flight of stairs and was afraid to get out of the box to climb the stairs. Other family members and friends dreamt of lots of food and cake – signs that they have associated with death.

Looking back at  the big and small signs leading to the deaths of several people I have known, I realize that even when the signs stare at me in the face and are so direct, I still hesitate to acknowledge the message in many cases. A few months ago, I also lost a best friend. A week before she died, I dreamt that her dog came looking for me and carried her pants to me in it’s mouth. After I took the pants from the dog, it signaled me to follow it and led me to a small cottage. At the door, it showed me a silver key on the ground and signaled for me to take it and open the door. When I woke up, I knew intuitively that my friend would die. And she died a few days later. She passed away as I was writing my last letter to her but even not being with her, I could feel her energy was being sapped out of her.

Why do I suppress my gift for dreaming and my intuition? Until now, I thought that I am not important enough to have such as gift. I have no formal training or education in this matter except tons and tons of experience and anecdotes which I am now more readily open to accept as an important part of who I am. I am now more open to embrace those gifts and not treat them as something to be skeptical or try to get approval from others or try to prove it to the logical mind. We are conditioned to think logically (which is also important) but I believe that we are slowly losing our natural instinct to listen to our intuition and dreams to guide our life paths or to give insights about things in our lives.

Are you a dreamer too?

Do share with us your experiences with your dreams.

TuneIn to your intuitive abilities and StepUp to decode what you feel and what you dream about. This knowledge has the power to lead you to a beautiful mystical path where your understanding of life flows with a knowingness that all things are as they should be.

Love,
Magdalene
